Some of the Challs keep apartments. Ace has a hotel apartment in "the city", which seems to be New York City (COTU 75). ![]() |
We don't see much of Ace's place, but it has a fireplace (COTU 75). ![]() Rocky has a penthouse somewhere,
as noted earlier. |
June keeps an apartment in the
city, likely Boulder, Colorado. We never see her apartment, just
the door. ![]() But...

In another adventure (COTU 20), are summoned to the "Challengers' city headquarters." ![]() This
"headquarters" looks suspiciously like a regular old apartment, and
June is there. So maybe it's her place in Boulder. |
Prof has a cabin cruiser
big as a house where he can always sack (COTU
31). Back in his pre-Chall callow days, he said it was "some way to spend all that money Uncle Cyrus left me."
Red, used to touring the world and traveling light, can probably sleep anywhere. Or he might crash with his Richie Rich brother. "Tino Manarray", rock god, stays in
hotels all over the world as he tours. Martin Ryan has a workshop
where he designs futuristic cars and low-cost tractors (COTU 56). |

The Challs actually "own" another mountain, an extinct volcano. In the Pacific Ocean, off Mexico's Baja California, sits an island called Calimuerte ("Hot Death"). Some call it Challenger Island. An international court ordered the League of Challenger-Haters imprisoned here. The Challs were appointed turnkeys. Ace jokes the island is "our own private Devil's Island" (COTU 45). But the Chall-Haters escaped twice. ![]() |
Apartments and vehicles suffice to sleep in, but real heroes need a secret headquarters. Fortunately, they're given one
from a most unlikely source. |
