The Challengers only giant or annual, Super DC Giant came out in 1971. It's all reprints, but includes a new pinup by Bob Brown and a nifty new cover by Jack Kirby.

The book reprints "The Man Who Stole the Future" from COTU 8, "Captives of the Space Circus" from COTU 6, and "The Wizard of Time" from COTU 4.

This book is a huge promotion for Kirby's return to DC, as evidenced by the ads throughout.

There's also an essay by Jack, "The Kirby That Jack Built", where he talks about his life. Jack talks about how DC sees the future, and comics will be bigger and in different formats. An ad at the back for pumps Jack's IN THE DAYS OF THE MOB, where "A different magazine is born!" (Different, all right. I've never even seen a copy.) Jack finishes with a nice comment. "PS. Of all my creations, I am proudest of these four: Susan, 23; Neal, 21; Barbara, 17; and the kid from left field, Lisa, 9."

The comic includes an odd item, a prose story starring Ace and Prof, "Strategy for Survival".

In fact, this is an old generic text page with Ace and Prof salted in. It's not a real Challengers story. The dialogue is stilted and atypical of our heroes. Attacked by a giant octopus in a bathysphere, Prof drops the ballast on it. The story ends:

"I'm afraid you'll never film that frightful thing! It's buried under 15 tons of iron! I suddenly remembered the buckshot we were to use for ballast - and I let him have it. Talk about a bull's eye!"

"What a lifesaving blast that was! Next time, it may be wise to use a little caution!"

The book also featured this pinup by Bob Brown.
