Untold Tales
of the
Challengers of the Unknown

The incidents here are mentioned only in passing or glimpses, but otherwise unrecorded. See the History of the Challs to see where they fit.

In this intriguing single panel (from the History of the DC Universe), the Challengers team with Cave Carson, world's greatest spelunker. They've found a huge yellow light far beneath the Earth. Is this the yellow sun at the world's center, the land called Skartaris? If so, it's home to The Warlord, Travis Morgan, Ace's brother who vanished in a flyover of the Arctic. (Ace's bio.)

Did the Challengers continue down to Skartaris? (Have they ever turned back from a challenge?) What adventures did they have there?

During one desperate adventure, Ace recalls how the Challengers once fought the Flying Fish. (COTU 41.) Where'd Rocky commandeer a balloon?

Once when teleported to the Arctic to investigate earth tremors, Rocky fought a polar bear - an untold tale (recalled in COTU 57).

An unofficial "Unknown Challenges of the Challengers of the Unknown" comes courtesy of Bizarro Comics, but they don't really count - we think.

Rocky recounts "the end of Tyrannosaurous X" one night to Clay Brody. We only get the tail end of the tale. Rocky is regaling Clay with early Challenger adventures. Clay implies the story is made up to impress women (COTU V3 16).

Wild, but the story is true. Tyrannosaurus X is seen again near the opening of Warriors, Guy Gardner's nightclub (GGW 29). Unless that's his stuffed head or a fiberglass replica.
